The REX615 is ABB's combined feeder and motor protection relay, designed for applications where a single hardware platform must be configurable for either feeder or motor protection without hardware changes. This significantly reduces spare parts inventory and simplifies engineering for installations containing both feeder and motor bays, such as industrial distribution switchboards, pumping stations and process plants where the same relay hardware can be stocked regardless of application type. The relay covers the combined ANSI function set for both feeder protection (50/51/50N/51N/67/67N/79/27/59/81/50BF) and motor protection (46/49RMS/48/51LR/66/37), switchable via PCM600 configuration. It communicates via RS485 and IEC 61850 Edition 1 and Edition 2 Ethernet, and is available in E (standard IEC) and G (global UL/CE) hardware variants. Up to 6 RTD temperature inputs are supported for motor thermal monitoring applications. Typical applications include industrial distribution switchgear where the panel builder needs a single relay type across all bays, replacement projects where standardisation on one hardware type is a procurement requirement, and installations where bay function assignment may change during the project lifecycle. All configuration and testing is performed via PCM600, giving consistent workflow with the broader ABB Relion 615 family.
