About this product

The CDS is Orion EE's LED-based capacitive voltage indicator for MV switchgear panels where visual-only voltage presence indication is required without auxiliary power supply or relay output. Designed for compliance with IEC 62271-213, it connects to the LRM (Low Power Resistive-Capacitive) voltage divider circuit installed in the switchgear and provides three independent phase LED indicators to confirm voltage presence on each phase. The absence of any auxiliary power requirement makes it suitable for simple secondary substation panels and ring main units where minimising wiring complexity and avoiding power supply dependencies is a priority. The device covers a wide MV input range and operates on energy harvested from the capacitive voltage divider signal itself, requiring no separate power connection. This makes the CDS the lowest-complexity solution for IEC 62271-213 compliance in new or retrofit secondary substation applications where the switchgear already incorporates LRM voltage divider points. Where a relay output is also required — for door interlocking or alarm purposes — the CDS-R provides the same LED indication with the addition of a single relay output. For applications requiring an LCD display or additional relay outputs, the OVI+ product range provides more capable configurations within the same Orion EE ecosystem.
