About this product

The CDS-R is Orion EE's LED-based capacitive voltage indicator with an integrated relay output, covering applications where voltage presence indication must also trigger an auxiliary function such as panel door interlocking, alarm activation or SCADA status input. Like the CDS, it connects to the LRM capacitive voltage divider circuit in the MV switchgear and provides three independent phase LED indicators for IEC 62271-213 compliance. The addition of a relay output differentiates it from the standard CDS model and makes it suitable for panels where a voltage-dependent contact is required for safety interlocking systems. The relay output activates when all three phases are confirmed present and de-energises when any phase voltage falls below the detection threshold, providing a fail-safe indication particularly useful for door interlocking applications in secondary substations. An auxiliary power supply is required to operate the relay output circuit, accepting a wide input range compatible with standard substation auxiliary supply voltages. Typical applications include secondary substation ring main units and compact substations where the switchgear design includes mechanical or electrical interlocking between the voltage indication and access door systems. For applications requiring a larger LCD display, or two independent relay outputs, the OVI+ product range provides more capable alternatives within the same Orion EE platform.
