About this product
The F-Sense is Orion EE's smart fault passage indicator for MV cable networks, designed for DSOs that need to automate fault location in complex underground cable networks and achieve significant reduction in customer restoration times. When a fault occurs anywhere in the network, F-Sense units installed on each cable section automatically detect the fault current passage, log the event with timestamp and immediately report the affected sections to the SCADA system via integrated communication. This allows the control room operator to identify the faulted section and reconfigure the network remotely without requiring field crews to patrol the entire network. The device communicates with the DSO SCADA system using standard protocols and supports both wired and wireless communication options depending on the network infrastructure available at each installation point. It is powered from the cable current itself using a current transformer, eliminating auxiliary power supply requirements at locations where no substation power is available. Typical applications include TEDAŞ and private DSO MV cable networks where restoration time KPIs are regulated or commercially sensitive, urban ring networks with multiple switching points, and rural cable networks where physical patrol is time-consuming. For networks where SCADA integration is not available or not required, the F-Sense Lite provides local-only fault indication without communication infrastructure.
