The F-Sense Lite is Orion EE's local-only fault passage indicator for MV cable networks, designed for applications where fault location improvement is needed but remote SCADA communication infrastructure is not available or not justified. It detects fault current passage during MV network faults and provides clear local visual indication of which cable sections carried fault current, allowing field crews to systematically identify the faulted section by checking each unit during patrol rather than testing the entire network with switching operations. The device is self-powered from the cable current and requires no auxiliary power supply or communication wiring, making it easy to install on existing cable termination infrastructure without modifications to the substation or ring main unit. The indication remains visible after the fault event and resets automatically when the cable is re-energised, providing reliable passive fault memory for field crews arriving at the location after restoration. Typical applications include rural and semi-urban MV cable networks where communication infrastructure investment is not justified, sections of urban networks where SCADA coverage gaps exist, and phased modernisation programs where local indication is deployed first while SCADA integration is planned for a later phase.
