NKT CB Series Asymmetrical T-Connectors

CB Series
NKTSeparable Connector

When an asymmetric elbow/T-type separable connector is needed across a wide current range (630 A up to 1250 A) for polymeric or XLPE-insulated MV cables up to 42 kV, the NKT CB Series is what we specify. Five models cover 25 mm² up to 1200 mm² conductors, with both onshore and offshore variants available.

About this product

The NKT CB Series are asymmetric elbow-branch / T-type screened separable connectors used to terminate polymeric or XLPE-insulated medium-voltage cables onto Interface C bushings (per EN 50180 / EN 50181) in switchgear, transformers, and other MV equipment rated up to 42 kV. Unlike a single family-wide current rating, each CB model carries its own continuous current rating: 630 A on CB 24-630 and CB 36-630, and 1250 A on CB 24-1250/2, CB 36-630 (1250), and CB 42-1250/3. Note that a model's compatibility with a C2-class (1250 A) bushing does not raise its own continuous current rating: CB 24-630 and CB 36-630 are both rated 630 A regardless of which bushing class they're paired with. Conductor cross-section ranges from 25 mm² on the smallest model (CB 24-630) up to 1200 mm² on the largest (CB 42-1250/3), with cable insulation diameters spanning 12.7–57.8 mm across the range. The body uses silicone rubber rather than EPDM, and accepts either screwed/shear-head mechanical lugs or hexagonal compression lugs depending on variant. All models include a capacitive voltage measurement point and support cable outer-sheath testing without removing the connector. Depending on model, the range covers both onshore and offshore installation environments.
