PhaseCap Energy Plus represents the highest performance tier in the EPCOS/TDK PFC capacitor range, designed for automatic PFC applications with demanding duty cycles, high inrush current requirements or extended service life targets. The MKK wavecut technology provides a service life rated at up to 240,000 hours — approximately three times the industry standard — and inrush current tolerance up to 500 times rated current, the highest in the EPCOS range. With annual switching cycle ratings of up to 15,000 operations, it is the appropriate specification for thyristor-switched dynamic PFC systems and high-frequency switching applications. Two impregnation technologies are available: the HD (High Duty) version uses gas filling for maximum electrical performance, covering ratings up to 33 kVAr per unit from 230V to 690V. The SHD (Super High Duty) version uses biodegradable synthetic ester resin impregnation, enabling operation up to 1000V and outputs up to 60 kVAr per unit while meeting environmental requirements for biodegradable dielectric fluid. Both versions include a three-phase overpressure disconnector for safe failure. Typical applications include thyristor-switched dynamic PFC systems for welding shops, arc furnace installations and other rapidly varying load environments, industrial facilities requiring guaranteed capacitor lifetime aligned with long-term maintenance contracts, and installations in regulated environments where biodegradable dielectric fluid is mandated.
