TE Raychem RSTI Screened T-Connectors

When a screened separable T-connector is needed across a wide voltage and current range (12 kV up to 42 kV, 800 A up to 1250 A) for single- and three-core polymeric-insulated MV cables onto Interface C bushings, TE's Raychem RSTI series is what we specify. The line spans standard-bore models (25 mm²) through large cross-section variants (1000 mm²), all built on one silicone-rubber screened body design.
About this product
TE's Raychem RSTI screened T-connectors are separable connectors used to terminate single- and three-core polymeric-insulated medium-voltage cables onto Interface C bushings (per EN 50180 / EN 50181) in gas-insulated switchgear, transformers, and other MV equipment rated 12 kV up to 42 kV. The line splits into two current-capacity tiers. The standard RSTI-58xx (12/24 kV) and RSTI-68xx (36/42 kV) series are rated 800 A and cover 25 mm² up to 400 mm² (58xx) or 300 mm² (68xx) conductors, with cable insulation diameters from 12.7 mm up to 42.0 mm. The large cross-section RSTI-39xx (12 kV), RSTI-59xx (24 kV), and RSTI-69xx (36/42 kV) series are rated 1250 A and cover 400 mm² up to 1000 mm² conductors (800 mm² on the 36/42 kV variant), with diameters from 28.9 mm up to 59.0 mm. All series share the same screened body design: a thin-walled conductive outer screen permanently bonded to highly modified silicone rubber insulation, a removable rear plug carrying a capacitive test point for energization checks and phasing, and oversheath testing possible without disconnecting the connector. The 58xx and 68xx series accept either DIN compression lugs or mechanical lugs with shear bolts; the large cross-section 39xx/59xx/69xx series use mechanical lugs only. For double connections, branch-offs, and disconnectable inline joints, the line is supported by dedicated RSTI-CC screened coupling connectors as separate accessories. These mate with the rear end of the base connector and are not part of this product's ordering options. The connectors are rated for both indoor and outdoor installation, including harsh-environment duty (TE cites an offshore wind farm reference project for temperature extremes, humidity, and salinity), and carry unlimited shelf-life. The combination of connector and coupling connector exceeds CENELEC HD 629.1 S2 requirements, which includes BS, VDE, and other international specifications.
