The RCM-202-AB is Janitza's dedicated residual current monitor for continuous insulation monitoring in LV networks, designed to detect developing insulation faults before they cause equipment failures, fires or nuisance earth fault tripping. In a well-maintained LV installation, residual current should be very low — the gradual increase of residual current over months or years indicates moisture ingress, mechanical insulation damage or ageing that will eventually lead to dielectric breakdown. The RCM-202-AB measures residual current continuously at up to two measurement points and provides alarm outputs when configurable thresholds are exceeded, enabling maintenance teams to schedule corrective action before a critical failure occurs. The device integrates with Janitza's GridVis software via RS485 Modbus for alarm management, trend analysis and long-term data logging. GridVis can generate automated reports showing residual current trends over time and alert maintenance personnel when threshold levels are approached or exceeded. This enables a predictive maintenance strategy for electrical insulation — replacing reactive fault response with planned intervention based on measured condition data.
