About this product

The Schneider Electric P1V provides MV voltage and frequency protection as a dedicated single-function relay for applications requiring ANSI 27/59/81U/81O under/overvoltage and under/overfrequency protection alongside or independent from overcurrent protection. It covers neutral displacement detection (64) and negative sequence voltage (47) in addition to the core voltage and frequency functions, making it suitable for protecting busbars, capacitor banks and generators against voltage and frequency abnormalities in both grid-connected and islanded MV networks. Two variants are available: P1V-A for basic voltage and frequency protection without communication, and P1V-B with RS485 IEC 60870-5-103 or Modbus RTU communication for SCADA integration. Both variants share the same compact flush-mount IP54 case as the P1F feeder relay, enabling a standardised panel design where overcurrent and voltage/frequency protection are provided by separate relays in adjacent panel positions. Typical applications include MV busbar voltage and frequency protection in distribution substations, loss-of-mains (LOM) protection for distributed generation installations connected to public networks, under/overvoltage protection for capacitor banks and shunt reactors, and frequency relay applications in industrial installations with backup generation systems. The P1V is typically specified alongside the P1F feeder relay to provide complete feeder and bus protection from the same relay family.
