It covers universal feeder and voltage protection with the same modular communication architecture as the P5x30 but without arc flash detection.
About this product
The Schneider Electric P5x20 is a compact non-withdrawable MV protection relay from the EasyLogic P5 platform, designed for demanding applications requiring LPCT/LPVT low-power sensor compatibility and IEC 61850 Ethernet communication in a smaller form factor than the withdrawable P5x30. Three variants cover feeder/motor universal (P5U20 CT), LPCT/LPVT sensor input universal (P5U20 LPCT/LPVT) and voltage-only (P5V20) applications, with up to 16 digital inputs and 8 relay outputs for applications requiring moderate I/O. The relay supports eight simultaneous communication protocols including IEC 61850 Ed.1 and Ed.2, Modbus RTU and TCP, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-103/104 and GOOSE peer-to-peer communication, with IEC 62443 SL1 cybersecurity certification for utility and critical infrastructure applications. The non-withdrawable design is appropriate for installations where the reduced footprint of the P5x20 compared to the P5x30 provides a panel design advantage. Typical applications include MV protection in compact switchgear designs using LPCT/LPVT sensors instead of conventional instrument transformers, feeder and motor protection requiring IEC 61850 communication with eight protocol support in a cost-optimised platform, and utility and industrial MV protection projects where arc flash detection and dual redundant Ethernet are not required but LPCT sensor compatibility and full protocol support are.
