The Schneider Electric P7 is the flagship protection relay in the MiCOM P range, engineered for the most complex MV protection, control and automation applications in utility transmission and distribution substations and large industrial power systems. As Schneider Electric's highest-specification protection platform, the P7 combines comprehensive multi-function protection with nine simultaneous communication protocols, advanced cybersecurity meeting IEC 62443 requirements, virtualization-ready hardware for software-defined protection architectures, and predictive asset monitoring using condition data from the network and connected equipment. The relay platform covers feeder, motor, transformer and generator protection applications in separate hardware models sharing the same engineering and communication architecture. Dual redundant SFP Ethernet ports with PRP, HSR and RSTP support provide maximum communication resilience, while I/O capacity of up to 40 digital inputs and 32 digital outputs supports the most extensive interlocking, control and monitoring functions. Integration with Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure EPAS, Power Operation and Power Monitoring Expert platforms provides a complete substation automation and energy management solution. Typical applications include TSO and DSO primary substations requiring the highest-specification protection with advanced automation and cybersecurity, large industrial and process facilities with complex protection coordination and control requirements, and substation digital transformation projects where protection IEDs must integrate with digital substation architectures including IEC 61850 process bus and sampled values.
