PowerLogic P3 Series MV Protection Relays

Schneider Electric PowerLogic P3 Series protection relay
Schneider ElectricProtection Relay

When standard or advanced MV protection is needed across feeder, motor, generator, or transformer applications, the PowerLogic P3 Series is what we specify. P3 Standard (P3U20, P3U30) covers essential to directional feeder and motor protection, while P3 Advanced adds dedicated models for line differential (P3L30), motor differential (P3M32), generator (P3G30/P3G32), and transformer differential (P3T32) protection, all with IEC 61850 Edition 1/Edition 2 and optional LPCT/LPVT sensor support.

About this product

PowerLogic P3 Series combines protection, measurement, control, and communication for MV distribution systems. The current official range is not limited to the broad P3F, P3M, and P3U labels; it contains nine application-specific models across the P3 Standard and P3 Advanced platforms.

Platform structure

  • P3 Standard: Includes the P3U20 and P3U30 universal models.
  • P3 Advanced: Includes the P3F30, P3L30, P3M30, P3M32, P3G30, P3G32, and P3T32 application models.

P3U20 is intended for essential feeder and motor applications, while P3U30 adds directional, voltage, and frequency capabilities for a wider application scope. P3 Advanced provides separate model codes for feeder, line differential, motor, generator, and transformer differential applications.

Model selection

P3F30 is used for directional feeder and incomer protection, P3L30 for line or cable differential protection, P3M30 for motor protection, and P3M32 for motor differential protection. P3G30 is intended for generator protection, P3G32 for generator differential protection, and P3T32 for transformer differential protection.

LPCT and LPVT support is available only on selected models. Arc-flash detection can be implemented on the P3 Advanced platform. IEC 61850 Edition 1 and Edition 2 support, together with serial and Ethernet communication options, simplifies system integration.

Engineering and operation

eSetup Easergy Pro is used for settings, configuration, commissioning, and fault analysis. Built-in virtual injection testing, IEC 61850 GOOSE, and extended I/O are available depending on the selected model and hardware configuration.

Typical applications

  • Utility feeder bays
  • Industrial MV switchboards
  • Pump, compressor, and large motor applications
  • Distribution and power transformers
  • Generator and cogeneration plants
  • Line and cable differential protection
  • IEC 61850 modernization projects
