About this product

The Schneider Electric Sepam G Series provides dedicated MV generator protection for power generation applications ranging from diesel generator sets and gas turbine generators to large hydro and thermal generating units. The series covers the complete generator protection function set including overcurrent (50/51), directional overcurrent (67), earth fault (50N/51N), directional earth fault (67N), reverse power (32), loss of excitation (40), negative sequence (46), thermal overload (49RMS), under/overvoltage (27/59), frequency (81), ROCOF disconnection and machine differential protection on higher models. Model G40 provides the core generator protection suite suitable for the majority of generator applications including embedded generation and standby generators. G82 adds ROCOF disconnection for loss-of-mains protection on generators connected to public networks. G87 provides machine differential protection (87G) plus ROCOF, and G88 extends this to machine-transformer unit differential protection (87GT) for large generating units where the generator and step-up transformer must be protected as a single differential zone. Typical applications include standby diesel generator protection in commercial buildings, data centres and hospitals, embedded generation protection at renewable energy sites connected to DSO networks, industrial cogeneration and combined heat and power installations, and utility-scale generator protection for hydro, gas turbine and thermal generating units where the appropriate model level is selected based on machine size, criticality and grid connection requirements.
