The UMG 96-PA is Janitza's comprehensive 96mm panel power quality and energy manager, combining power quality measurement, energy management, harmonic analysis to the 40th order, digital I/O and optional residual current monitoring in a single panel device. The MID certification option on the UMG 96-PA-MID variant makes it suitable for legally relevant energy billing applications where measurement accuracy must be traceable to national standards — enabling the device to serve both power quality monitoring and billable energy metering functions from a single installation. Modular expansion capability allows additional function modules to be connected for increased I/O count, additional communication protocols or residual current monitoring, extending the measurement capability as the application requirements evolve without replacing the base device. The device connects via RS485 and Ethernet with Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP and other protocols, and integrates with GridVis for centralised data management. Typical applications include LV distribution board incomers in commercial and industrial buildings where both power quality monitoring and energy metering are required at the same measurement point, applications requiring legally-certified energy metering combined with harmonic analysis capability, building energy management systems where sub-metering data must comply with billing or incentive tariff measurement requirements, and industrial installations where power factor, harmonics and energy data all contribute to a comprehensive energy management programme.
