The UMG 96-PQ-L is Janitza's 96mm panel power quality analyser with modular expansion capability, optimised for retrofit and upgrade applications where the primary requirement is power quality measurement with the ability to add functions over time. The LP (Low Power) variant adds compatibility with LPCT (Low Power Current Transformer) sensors for applications using modern compact instrument transformers — a feature increasingly important in retrofit projects where space constraints prevent installation of conventional CTs. The base device provides harmonics analysis to the 40th order, energy metering, digital I/O and RS485/Ethernet communication, with the modular expansion interface supporting additional modules for RCM residual current monitoring, extended I/O and protocol options. This modular approach means the UMG 96-PQ-L can be installed with a minimal initial configuration and expanded as monitoring requirements develop — reducing upfront cost while preserving investment in the base hardware. Typical applications include power quality monitoring upgrades in existing LV switchboards, retrofit projects in primary distribution substations where LPCT sensors are installed as part of a switchgear modernisation, facilities building a phased power quality monitoring programme starting with key measurement points and expanding over time, and industrial installations where harmonic analysis and RCM are required but the full UMG 509-PRO capability is not justified at all measurement points.
