MV Voltage Measurement (LPVT / LPCT)
Compact, safe and accurate voltage and current sensing for modern medium voltage switchgear.
The Challenge
Conventional inductive voltage transformers are bulky, oil-filled and carry risk of ferroresonance and explosion in MV networks. Modern switchgear increasingly requires compact sensing solutions — Low Power Voltage Transformers (LPVT) and Low Power Current Transformers (LPCT) — that output a low-voltage analogue signal directly compatible with digital protection relays and power quality analyzers. Selecting the correct LPVT requires matching voltage level, accuracy class, burden, capacitance, and connector interface (Interface C) to both the switchgear and the connected IED.
Our Approach
We identify your switchgear voltage level (12kV, 24kV, 36kV) and the required accuracy class for protection or measurement.
We verify connector interface compatibility — Interface C symmetrical or asymmetrical — with your existing or planned switchgear.
We match LPVT output parameters (burden in kΩ, capacitance in pF) to the input requirements of your protection relay or analyzer.
We advise on IEC 61869-11 compliance requirements and how they apply to your specific application.
We source LPVT and LPCT sensors from leading European manufacturers and provide full technical documentation.
